Changlimithang Stadium

Estadio Changlimithang
Changlimithang Stadium (Chang Lam, Thimphu) – built in 1974, this multi-purpose outdoor stadium (with a capacity of 45,000 spectators) has mainly football matches, along with other sporting events like archery (the country’s national sport), women’s football, and volleyball games. This stadium is also the home team of the Bhutan national football team. The stadium is 2,300 meters (7,500 ft.) above sea level, making it one of the highest in the world.
Of the sporting events held at this stadium, archery events are most frequently held here. Traditionally, players used arrows and bows made out of bamboo to hit their targets, before developing to the modern equipment we are familiar with today. If playing this sport isn’t your thing, there are competitions and practices held on the stadium grounds everyday free for all to observe.
